In a bizarre incident, a family called a healer to bring a dead woman back to life. The woman had died after being bitten by a deadly snake.
The incident took place Monday in Mirzarcot Dahahati Danga village in Dhaka, Bangladesh, and the victim was identified as Tasiron Nesa.
According to a news report, the snake bit Nesa when she was returning home. She was rushed to Patgram Upazila Health Complex and later shifted to Rangpur Medical College Hospital, where she died early Tuesday. It was not clear what kind of snake had bitten Nesa.
When her body was brought home Tuesday, her family called a healer and spent hours trying to bring the dead woman back to life. The healer reportedly claimed the woman was not dead but only unconscious after being bitten by the snake and said he could revive her.
For nearly two hours, the healer tried different methods to bring back the woman to life and make her drink water. After neighbors started gathering at the house, the healer declared the woman dead. The victim was buried Tuesday night.
Many people in rural areas of India and its neighboring countries rely on such healers, who claim they can cure illnesses, treat snake bites and sometimes even bring people back from the dead.
