‘Dear White People’ Season 4 Spoilers: Netflix Show Will Tackle ‘Issues Of Systemic Racism’
The creator of “Dear White People” Justin Simien has remained tight-lipped about the Season 4 storyline, but he did share a few spoilers about some of the topics that will be discussed during the final season of the show.
In the “Dear White People” Season 3 finale, viewers saw Sam (Logan Browning), Troy (Brandon P. Bell), and Lionel (DeRon Horton) make a vow to take down the mysterious Order of X. The secret society goes to great lengths to protect its members by any means.
Simien told Entertainment Tonight that the show will explore how the current conversations about racism are having a major impact on society.
“You’re going to see us really delving into, of course, more issues of systemic racism. But also how possible is it really to lead a civil rights movement in such a capitalist place? We’re going to get into some of those questions,” he said.
Although Simien wants to discuss the current issues in the US, he doesn’t want the show to stray too far away from its roots. “It [deals with] the human conflict between the roles that society decides we must play and who we might have been otherwise,” he said.
“The next level of what the show is about is, frankly, systemic racism and the way that functions. We’re really trying to tune in to what’s going on in the country.”
Netflix has not announced an official release date for “Dear White People” Season 4.
