Demi Lovato is celebrating her victory after overcoming her eating disorder by showing off her stretch marks on social media.

Lovato, 28, has many reasons to be happy months after calling off her engagement from ex Max Ehrich. In her latest post on Instagram, the "Sorry Not Sorry" singer got candid about her battle with an eating disorder and how she recovered.

"I used to genuinely believe recovery from an eating disorder wasn’t real. That everyone was faking or secretly relapsing behind closed doors," she wrote on Instagram. "'Surely she throws up here and there', 'she can’t POSSIBLY accept her cellulite'... those we’re just a few of the things that I used to tell myself growing up. I’m so grateful that I can honestly say for the first time in my life - my dietitian looked at me and said 'This is what eating disorder recovery looks like.'"

To celebrate her recovery, Lovato shared close-up photos of her stretch marks, which she highlighted using glitter paint. She said she wanted to celebrate her stretch marks and be an inspiration to others who are also battling the same problem.

"In honor of my gratitude for the place I’m in today, this was a lil shoot I did by myself in quarantine this summer when I wanted to celebrate my stretch marks instead of being ashamed of them," she said.

"I started wearing actual glitter paint on my stretch marks to celebrate my body and all of it’s features (whether society views them as good OR bad)," she continued. "My stretch marks aren’t going away so might as well throw a lil glitter on em’ amiright? Also let this be a reminder to anyone who doesn’t think it’s possible: IT ACTUALLY IS YOU CAN DO IT. I BELIEVE IN YOU."

Lovato also reminded everyone to be gentle with themselves and to get right back on track whenever they slip because "you're worth the miracle of recovery." She concluded her message by sending love to everyone.

The "Skyscraper" hitmaker's message received warm and supportive messages from her followers and fans. Many thanked Lovato for being an inspiration to them.

Prior to her post, Lovato previously spoke about her eating disorder on Ashley Graham's "Pretty Big Deal" podcast earlier this year.

"I'm tired of running myself into the ground with workouts and extreme dieting," the singer said. "I thought the past few years was recovery from an eating disorder when it actually was just completely falling into it."

Meanwhile, last week, Lovato took to social media and shared what she believes is the "best part of being single," which is finding her happiness in herself and not from others. Lovato called off her engagement to Ehrich in September just two months after she said "yes" to his proposal.
