  • Demi Lovato subtly hinted that she is already healing amid her messy split from ex-fiancé Max Ehrich
  • Ehrich's alleged thirst tweets about Selena Gomez resurfaced weeks before their split
  • Lovato said she and Gomez are no longer friends

Demi Lovato shared a message about healing over her messy split from ex-fiancé Max Ehrich, who claimed that he only learned about their breakup from a tabloid.

Lovato ended her engagement with Ehrich after two months. Their split became messy when Ehrich spoke up and said the "Skyscraper" singer didn't tell him personally they were over. And now Lovato has seemingly responded with a message on her social media account saying she’s fine with being "misunderstood."

"I knew I was healing when...I enjoyed alone time, I started responding rather than reacting. I saw my parents as people with their own unresolved trauma," the message Lovato shared in her Instagram Story read.

"I set boundaries & when people didn't respect them, I knew they were clearing space for those who did. I was okay with being misunderstood.”

Lovato and Ehrich appeared very in love when they announced their engagement a few months ago. But their engagement was not devoid of drama as Ehrich's alleged old thirst tweets for Lovato’s former BFF Selena Gomez resurfaced earlier this month.

“Hahaha selena gomez and demi are cute togueter [sic] but boy if you think demi is prettier… you’re WRONG!” one message from 2010 read.

“I’m going to marry @selenagomez,” another message dated August 2018 read.

Lovato defended Ehrich from the critics and called the messages "fake." She felt that those tweets resurfaced to pit her against Gomez, whom she said was no longer her friend.

"It’s really sad when people FAKE images to put women against each other. If women have conflict that’s between them NOT YOU," she wrote in her Instagram Story on Sept. 14 as quoted by Us Weekly.

"While on one hand I understand and have compassion for those who are so horrified at the reality of 2020 that they gotta distract themselves with doctored images in order to not focus on how bad these times are, but on the other hand, if you aren’t 13 years old trying to grasp the reality of right now, put on your adult underpants and write about what actually matters. Please.”

In an interview with Harper's Bazaar in April, the "Stone Cold" singer said, "I'm not friends with her," when asked about Gomez. Earlier this year, Gomez shared Lovato's Grammy performance in her Instagram Story with a warm message praising her "courage and bravery." So, many were surprised by Lovato's statement about Gomez.
