‘Designated Survivor’ Season 1 Spoilers: Episode 5 Synopsis Released Online; What Will Happen In ‘The Mission’? [VIDEO]
ABC’s “Designated Survivor” is about to get more dramatic and suspense-driven in the upcoming episode. After declaring war on Algeria, President Tom Kirkman (Kiefer Sutherland) will send twenty Navy SEALs on a deadly mission in Season 1, episode 5.
Terrorist group Al Sakar’s leader, Majid Nassar, was located by an American agent to Algeria. Even though Kirkman tried to take a diplomatic approach by asking the Algerian President to arrest the terrorist, his talks failed. Now it’s time for action.
According to the official synopsis of “Designated Survivor,” titled “The Mission,” Kirkman will send twenty Navy SEALs on a mission that will ultimately define his presidency. He will send these brave soldiers to Algeria to extract Nassar, the man who supposedly bombed the Capitol and claimed responsibility for the attack.
The promo shows a Navy SEAL leader assuring the President that his men have trained for missions like this one. But Sutherland’s character still feels guilty sending them in harm’s way. After all, some of these Navy SEALs are fathers.
Of course, the Republican’s party’s devious designated survivor, Congresswoman Kimble Hookstraten (Virginia Madsen), has to lend some words of advice. After all, she has been sneakily pretending to support the President while eyeing his job. In the trailer for the next episode, the Congresswoman reminds the President that the entire legitimacy of his Presidency depends on this mission.
However, things go from bad to worse when the Navy SEAL team is attacked during the extraction. They eventually lose contact with the soldiers.
Elsewhere, FBI Agent Hannah Wells (Maggie Q) continues to investigate the Capitol bombing and discovers more secrets. Wells got a mysterious phone call telling her to find room number 105 this week. What will she find?
There will be no episode of “Designated Survivor” next week. The ABC series returns on Wednesday, Oct. 26 at 10 p.m. EDT.
