‘Destiny 2’: Bungie Teases New And Returning Weapons For Season 17
KEY POINTS
- Many playlist weapons are getting replaced by new ones in Season 17
- Machine guns are getting a 40% damage buff in PvE next season
- The Palindrome will no longer be available in the Nightfall loot rotation
Another batch of weapons is coming to “Destiny 2’s” 17th season, along with Bungie’s planned weapon sandbox overhaul for PvE and PvP.
The developers teased some of the upcoming Season 17 weapons in the latest TWAB, alongside more information regarding this year’s Guardian Games, set to receive a few notable changes as well. Players can expect a couple of returning weapons and some completely new ones, including a ritual-heavy machine gun: Chain of Command.
Bungie didn’t specify what archetype this machine gun occupies, nor did it say what perks it’s going to come with. However, the planned heavy machine gun buff for next season should make the Chain of Command (and almost every other machine gun in the game) more viable.
Machine guns will be getting a 40% damage boost against all PvE enemies. Bonus damage against bosses will only be at 20%, though.
Other weapons will drop from the following playlists and activities:
- Nightfalls
- DFA Hand Cannon
- Horror’s Least Pulse Rifle
- Vanguard
- Strident Whistle Bow
- Crucible
- Riptide Fusion Rifle
- Gambit
- Dead Weight Shotgun
- Trials of Osiris
- Forgiveness Sidearm
- Burden of Guilt Fusion Rifle
Take note that the Comedian shotgun and the fan-favorite Palindrome hand cannon will be replaced by the DFA and Horror’s Least. The same goes for the Messenger and Shayura’s Wrath in Trials of Osiris. Players who want to get these guns should try to participate in the activities before the end of the season.
But it may already be too late for the Palindrome since its next scheduled drop week is supposed to be on May 24, which is the end of the season.
This season’s playlist weapons (Herod-C, Crisis Inverted and Fortissimo-11) will all be moved to the world loot pool in Season 17 to make way for the new playlist weapons.
Bungie did not tease any new weapons for the Iron Banner despite removing the Occluded Finality sniper rifle and the Finite Impactor hand cannon from its loot pool. But more information regarding this, the upcoming Iron Banner rework and the rest of the new weapons are expected to arrive soon before Season 17 launches.
