Looks like “Destiny 2” fans have something to look forward to next week. Apparently, the game’s designer, Luke Smith, has just confirmed that they will be releasing the details of the upcoming December update. From the looks of it, the update has a lot to offer, especially when it comes to in-game upgrades.

On Saturday, Smith took to Twitter to tease about the December update, which he says will include a couple of things. “Next week the ‘Destiny 2’ team will detail the systems side of the December update. It includes: economy updates (vendors & acquiring their gear, tokens, legendary shards), investment updates (new reward systems for weapons & armor) gameplay updates and more,” he tweeted.

In a follow-up, Smith revealed that he and Bungie project lead Mark Noseworthy will be answering fans’ questions about the game next week. They will also be addressing community feedback they’ve received since the launch of the game. He ended his tweets with a “see you soon” message for fans who will be anticipating the update discussion.

Smith’s posts come just two months after “Destiny 2’s” launch for the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 this September. The game’s PC version was released last month. Though the multiplayer first-person shooter is fairly new, it has already received some criticism when it was found out recently that it has been providing less experience points than it should have, as pointed out by Wccftech.

Apparently, players discovered that “Destiny 2’s” XP system seems rigged. They have since bombarded Bungie with a lot of questions. This forced the video game company to announce the suspension of the system and it promised to change how the game handles experience points.

“We’ve seen community discussion around XP gain in ‘Destiny.’ After reviewing our data, we agree that the system is not performing the way we’d like it to. Today, we’d like to describe what’s going on under the hood, and talk about what you can expect going forward when it comes to earning XP in ‘Destiny 2,’” Bungie stated in a post it published on its official blog on Friday.

“Currently, XP will scale up when playing longer or fixed duration activities like Crucible competitive multiplayer matches and the Leviathan Raid, and XP will scale down when playing activities that can be quickly, repeatedly chained, like grinding Public Events. We are not happy with the results, and we’ve heard the same from the community.”

“Effective immediately, we are deactivating this system. As a result, players will see XP earn rates change for all activities across the board, but with all values being displayed consistently in the user interface. Over the course of the next week, we will be watching and reviewing XP game data to ensure that these changes meet our expectations, as well as yours. Any additional updates to this system will be communicated to you via our official channels.”

The “Destiny 2” issue comes in the wake of the microtransactions controversy that hit Electronic Arts’ “Star Wars Battlefront 2.” Thus, Kotaku says it is inevitable for players to react this way toward a rigged system. And while Bungie may have a couple of reasons on why it designed the game’s XP system to be that way, players will always feel that the system was built to encourage them to spend real money just to get Bright Engrams faster in the game.

Bright Engrams are “Destiny 2’s” loot boxes. They are given to players whenever they successfully fill their experience bar. This only begins when one has reached level 20, however. From the first level to the 20th level, XP will primarily be useful when one is to level up. Since Bright Engrams are also available for sale in the game’s Eververse microtransaction store, players speculate that Bungie’s not-so-favorable XP system is encouraging fans to spend money on Bright Engrams.
