KEY POINTS

  • "The Witch Queen's" main campaign will have two difficulty modes
  • A new six-player activity is expected in "Season of the Risen"
  • According to Bungie, "The Witch Queen" is "Destiny 2's" most ambitious expansion yet

The latest expansion for “Destiny 2” is only a couple of weeks away, and Bungie has confirmed every new feature that players can expect once the expansion goes live.

A video showcasing everything that “The Witch Queen” has to offer was recently uploaded by the developers, giving players a glimpse of the war against the Lucent Brood. Here’s a short summary of everything that’s coming to “Destiny 2” in “Season of the Risen.”

“Definitively Destiny” Campaign

One of the biggest additions coming with “The Witch Queen” is what Bungie calls the “Definitively Destiny Campaign,” which aims to add some exciting twists to the standard linear campaign formula.

The developers said that they were going to implement some lessons they learned from quests like “Presage” and “Harbinger” to weave a compelling story mode laced with interesting game mechanics.

There will also be a legendary difficulty for the main campaign that will reward players with more loot than usual.

New Weapons and Weapon Crafting

According to Bungie, there will be over 50 new weapons in “The Witch Queen,” from trusty legendaries to brand-new exotics and the new Glaive archetype, which is designed to fulfill multiple roles.

Glaives will function as reliable melee weapons fitted with energy blasters and a shield that can block incoming fire. These give the weapon an offensive support role in a fireteam, with the new exotic glaives further emphasizing this point.

Players will also be able to craft their own weapons via the new weapon crafting system that will let them mix and match the perks that they want to use, assuming that they’re willing to work for them.

Void 3.0 Update

The reworks for all of the Void subclasses are finally going live in “The Witch Queen.” Players can expect their new Void powers to work similarly to Stasis, from selectable abilities to a customization system similar to Aspects and Fragments.

The new Void subclasses will give players the option to run with a variety of effects like skill suppression, invisibility and lifesteal. Unlike the current system, these effects will no longer be locked to specific classes.

“Season of the Risen”

While Bungie described “The Witch Queen” as a psychic detective adventure, they compared “Season of the Risen” to “a detective putting on their flak jacket.”

The events of the upcoming season are expected to revolve around the Lucent Brood crisis and the Guardians’ attempt to prevent the empowered Hive from destroying Earth. Players can expect to see more development between the Human-Cabal alliance as well as some other important characters like The Crow. Additionally, a new six-player activity is expected to arrive together with this season.
