'Destiny 2' Guide: How To Get Ascendant Shards
KEY POINTS
- Ascendant Shards are used to purchase exotic items and upgrade masterwork gear
- These shards involve beating some of the most difficult challenges in the game
- PvP reward tracks and vendors are the easiest sources of Ascendant Shards
Players who want to get exotic or pinnacle gear will have to spend a certain amount of rare resources, which include Ascendant Shards. These shards are extremely valuable and they’re often hard to obtain, forcing players to either pay extravagant amounts of other resources, or go through some of “Destiny 2’s” hardest challenges.
As daunting as it may seem, obtaining Ascendant Shards all boils down to patience and dedication. There are plenty of sources where players can get these shards, giving them options on how they want to play the game without wasting their time.
Here are all of the ways on how to get Ascendant Shards in “Destiny 2.”
Crucible And Gambit
For PvP fans, Ascendant Shards can be acquired as rewards from the Crucible’s Lord Shaxx and Gambit’s Drifter. However, the shards are at the very end of the seasonal rewards track, so expect to put in some time and effort in these modes.
Since the shards are rewards from the seasonal track, players will only have to play these game modes normally; no difficult challenges are required, only time and effort. Only one Ascendant Shard can be obtained from each game mode per season.
Trials Of Osiris Flawless Clear
This is a much more difficult PvP route compared to the previous one. Players must get seven consecutive wins in the Trials of Osiris mode; every defeat will reset the counter and force players to start over again. Every first Flawless clear per week will reward one shard.
There’s not much else to say here other than Trials is arguably the most competitive mode in “Destiny 2.” Good luck and try to have fun.
Weapon Vendors
Players can purchase Ascendant Shards from Banshee-44 and Ada-1 at the Tower for large amounts of resources. Each shard will cost 10 Enhancement Prisms, 50,000 Glimmer and 100 planetary materials. Take note that the materials that the vendors require change daily.
Grandmaster Nightfalls
Finishing Nightfall Strikes on the highest difficulty guarantees at least one Ascendant Shard as a reward. Be prepared for a fight, as these strikes are the hardest activities in the game outside of raids. Master difficulty Nightfalls also reward shards, but they are not guaranteed to drop.
