KEY POINTS

  • High-stat armor can be obtained by focusing Umbral Engrams at the H.E.L.M.
  • Players must first unlock the Armor Decoding Clearance upgrade from the War Table
  • Each armor piece costs Risen Umbral Energy to purchase

While all of the loot sources in “Destiny 2” can potentially yield a high-stat armor piece or two, there are activities that may be worth spending more time on.

The PsiOps Battlegrounds activity, in particular, is great for getting both the new weapons and armor added in “Season of the Risen.” Players have a chance to get these items to drop upon opening the chests at the end of the activity, but they can also be target-farmed back at the H.E.L.M.

Players can spend their hard-earned resources to get “Season of the Risen” weapons and armor at the War Table inside the H.E.L.M. Much like the previous seasons, players can focus their Umbral Engrams to get a shot at some quality loot.

Finishing the seasonal quests is highly advised before players start preparing for their armor grind since this will unlock all of the Battlegrounds maps. It will also provide Insight, which is used to unlock H.E.L.M upgrades.

To farm high-stat armor, players will have to unlock the Armor Decoding Clearance upgrade at the War Table by spending Insight, which can be earned by completing seasonal challenges. Unlocking the upgrade will open up a new section in the War Table where players can purchase armor pieces.

Each armor piece will cost 25 Legendary Shards, 1 Umbral Engram and 4 Risen Umbral Energy. Engrams and Shards are easy to come by, but Risen Umbral Energy will only drop from PsiOps Battlegrounds runs unless players purchase the Umbral Energy Requisition upgrade.

With that said, PsiOps Battlegrounds remains the best way to farm both armor pieces and Risen Umbral Energy so long as players have enough Psychogenic Intel to open the Runic Chest at the end of each run.

The activity is also the prime candidate for attuning weapons with Deepsight Resonance. It also drops all “Season of the Risen” weapons at the end of each run, which is great for players still collecting enough Patterns to unlock craftable versions of their favorite weapons.

Dungeons and raids, including the new Vow of the Disciple, will still reward players with armor pieces worth 60 total stats or higher.
