'Destiny 2' Hunter Guide: Reworked Gyrfalcon's Hauberk Build
KEY POINTS
- Gyrfalcon's damage bonus now only applies after performing a finisher while invisible
- The exotic now grants Volatile Rounds upon exiting Void Invisibility
- Players can maintain permanent invisiblity and Volatile Rounds uptime with the Hauberk equipped
The exotic Gyrfalcon's Hauberk chest piece in "Destiny 2" may no longer be as oppressive as it was once in the Crucible, but it remains a top-tier option for Void Hunters in every other game mode.
Bungie reworked this problematic armor piece to fit more in PvE than in PvP. With the proper setup, Hunters can chain Void Invisibility procs together while maintaining near-permanent uptime for Volatile Rounds on top of a nice damage boost after finishing an enemy while invisible.
When combined with the rest of the subclass' perks, "Destiny 2" players can easily tear through even the hardest of content, including the Master version of the Spire of the Watcher dungeon.
Recommended Loadout
Ideally, players should use a Void primary weapon for this build to make the most out of Gyrfalcon's exotic traits.
The Unforgiven is one such weapon. There are a ton of good perk combos for it, but players should look out for one with either Repulsor Brace or Adrenaline Junkie for extra survivability and DPS, respectively.
Fighting Lion is another excellent choice for this build. It can demolish tough targets with its unlimited supply of grenades, and its high direct-hit damage means every proc of Volatile Rounds will hit harder than usual.
Armor Mods
Admittedly, armor mods don't have much of an impact on this build. Gyrfalcon is enough to carry players through most content, but using mods that increase its consistency or boost DPS is always welcome. Try using the following:
- Font of Might
- High-Energy Fire
- Elemental Charge
- Elemental Ordnance
- Reaping Wellmaker
For Season 19, consider using the Weakened Clear mod in the artifact. This essentially turns any of the game's Grenade Launchers into pocket Divinities that inflict Weakness on every successful hit. The mod will save Hunters the hassle of using their thrown grenades or Smoke Bombs in order to debuff targets.
Aspects and Fragments
Vanishing Step gives on-demand Invisibility, while Stylish Executioner allows for constant chaining. With Gyrfalcon and a Void primary weapon, players will always have Volatile Rounds active unless they run out of things to kill.
For fragments, use the following:
- Echo of Starvation
- Echo of Undermining
- Echo of Remnants
- Echo of Obscurity
Any grenade can work with this build, though Scatter Grenade and Suppressor Grenade tend to be the most useful.
