'Diablo 3: Reaper of Souls' Release Date Set For 2014, Box Art Revealed
Not only did Blizzard announce "Diablo 3: Reaper of Souls," the first expansion for "Diablo 3," but it also said that "Diablo 3: Reaper of Souls" won't come out until next year. We also got a first look at the box art for "Diablo 3: Reaper of Souls."
If you scroll down to the bottom of the homepage for "Diablo 3: Reaper of Souls," you'll find that it says that the "Diablo 3: Reaper of Souls" release date will come sometime in 2013. The box art for "Diablo 3: Reaper of Souls" also features a menacing image of Malthael, the fallen Angel of Wisdom and the antagonist of "Diablo 3: Reaper of Souls." Check out the photo below.
It's unknown whether "Diablo 3: Reaper of Souls" will be released in the early, middle or later part of 2014, but at least it's coming. This isn't just a run-of-the-mill content pack for "Diablo 3," though. "Diablo 3: Reaper of Souls" could reshape "Diablo 3" into a darker, item-hunting driven image.
The official press release for "Diablo 3: Reaper of Souls" says the game will offer a "dark and terrifying new chapter" in the "Diablo" franchise. What's more, the press release promises "substantial updates to the loot experience."
Whether "Diablo 3: Reaper of Souls" fulfills the above promises or not remains to be seen. At the very least, though, it seems that "Diablo 3: Reaper of Souls" will try to steer "Diablo 3" back toward a macabre experience that's focused on making item-hunting the addictive click-fest it used to be in past "Diablo" games.
