Did ‘The Flash’ Star Grant Gustin Marry Fiancée Andrea Thoma In Malaysia?
“The Flash” star Grant Gustin has denied a report that he and fiancée Andrea Thoma tied the knot in Malaysia earlier this week.
The Star Online reported that Gustin and Thoma had a traditional wedding ceremony at her family home in Kampung Kolopis in Penampang, Sabah on Wednesday. But shortly after the story was published, the 27-year-old actor took to Instagram to clear things up.
“It was incorrectly reported, without our permission that LA (Thoma) and I had a private wedding while we were here (Malaysia), but that’s not quite the truth,” Gustin wrote, alongside a photo of the couple during their vacation in the south-east Asian country. “While we did have a beautiful, symbolic Kadazan ceremony to honor LA’s ancestors, we still won’t tie the knot until next year.”
Thoma is half-Kadazan. Although the 29-year-old physical therapist was born in Ohio and had lived there her whole life, she told The Star Online that knew some of that traditions being practiced in Sabah and can even speak a little Malay and Kadazan because of her mother.
Despite the misinformation about his first-ever trip to Malaysia, Gustin had a blast spending time with Thoma’s family. “The Majalap family is non-stop and we’ve been running around and partying and eating and drinking since we got here,” he wrote on Instagram. “We’ve had a great time while we were in Sabah. LA’s GIGANTIC family is awesome.”
Gustin also revealed that he and Thoma got to hang out with Masidi Manjun, Sabah’s minister of tourism, culture, and environment, who hosted a dinner for the couple.
Gustin announced his engagement to Thoma with an Instagram photo back in April. The picture doesn’t have any caption, but it has Thoma showing off the engagement ring she got from the actor.
A source told Entertainment Tonight that Gustin proposed to Thoma a day after she moved into his place in Venice, California. The “Glee” alum reportedly got down on one knee with a ring in hand in the middle of their workout session on the beach.
“The Flash” returns from hiatus on Tuesday, Jan. 16, 2018 at 8 p.m. EST on The CW.
