Did Meghan Markle Lie When She Said This About Prince Harry?

Royal fans discuss Meghan Markle’s statement about her first meeting with Prince Harry.

On Wednesday, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex celebrated their second engagement anniversary. Two years ago, Prince Harry and Markle announced their engagement.

They also shared some details about their relationship during their engagement interview. During the interview, Markle said that she didn’t know much about the person that her friend set her up for a blind date referring to Prince Harry.

One netizen took to Quora to examine the duchess’ statement and asked if it was true that Markle didn’t know Prince Harry when they first met. The question garnered mixed reactions from royal followers with some believing that it was just taken out of context.

“Since you’re referring to their adorable engagement interview, let’s start of by saying she NEVER said she didn’t know who he was. Her exact words were she ‘didn’t know much about him’, besides what was said about him in the news, so basically, what literally anyone else would know about the royal family if you aren’t an avid watcher or follower,” Ijeoma Okere commented.

Ann Per also agreed that Markle did not really say that she didn’t know Prince Harry. However, she admitted that she “did not know much” about the royal prince.

Some believed that Markle just lied because if she was an avid fan of Princess Diana, she would probably know about Prince Harry.

“She outright lied. She, along with millions of people over a certain age, watched William and Harry walk behind their mother's casket. The Royal Family has been covered on numerous magazines, morning talk shows and documentaries,” Claire Chase wrote.

Cheryl Collins was convinced that Markle knew Prince Harry. She even believed that it was the former “Suits” star who wanted to meet Prince William’s younger brother.

“She was a Diana fan and later requested a meeting with Harry. Everybody knows who Harry is, especially somebody who traveled in Meghan's circles. She gave the audition of her lifetime and is playing the role of a lifetime,” Collins wrote.

Prince Harry and Markle are enjoying their six-week break from their royal duties. The couple will not be spending Christmas with the royal family. An insider said that the reason behind their decision was their alleged rift with Prince William.
