'Doctor Who' Season 8 Spoilers: Episode 2 Synopsis For 'Into The Dalek' Has The New Doctor Face An Old Foe
The "Doctor Who" Season 8 premiere airs Aug. 23 but BBC has already released the episode 2 synopsis. "Into the Dalek" will continue to explore the identity of the new Doctor while he faces his oldest, and most dangerous, foe.
Per the "Doctor Who" Season 8, episode 2 synopsis for "Into the Dalek, "A Dalek fleet surrounds a lone rebel ship, and only the Doctor can help them now. With the Doctor facing his greatest enemy, he needs Clara by his side. Confronted with a decision that could change the Daleks forever he is forced to examine his conscience. Will he find the answer to the question, “Am I a good man?"
Daleks are a great way to explore Peter Capaldi's Doctor. With such a challenging foe, the Doctor has to trust his companion, Clara, as well as his own abilities. Based on the "Doctor Who" Season 8 premiere, showrunner Steven Moffat will balance action and reflection.
For those who think introducing the Daleks so early in the season may be a bit of mistake, Moffat has commented he wanted to shake up things with Capaldi and having the new Doctor face a dangerous foe is a great way to accomplish that goal. In "Deep Breath," the Doctor just regenerated and "Into the Dalek" will continue that story but the Doctor must truly become the Doctor to defeat the Daleks. Of course, "Into the Dalek" could be the first of several episodes to feature the enemy as an earlier trailer features a voice similar to Davros. Based on the "Doctor Who" Season 8 trailer, the Cybermen will feature prominently and there are other monsters and aliens that will oppose the Doctor.
"Doctor Who" Season 8 premiere, "Deep Breath," airs Aug. 23 at 8 p.m. EDT on BBC America.
