A stray dog in North Carolina has a new unicorn toy and home after employees in a Dollar General alerted animal control officers about a lab mix that kept trying to steal the stuffed purple animal.

The dog, which was later named Sisu after the dragon in the Disney movie “Raya and the Last Dragon,” would beeline to the toy aisle every time a customer exited the store to try and steal the unicorn, People reports.

Officer Samantha Lane, who responded to the call on Monday, was so impressed with Sisu’s devotion she bought the $10 unicorn for him. Sisu happily left with Lane once she purchased his toy.

He was taken to the Duplin County Animal Services shelter, however, no one has claimed the dog. The shelter suspects Sisu’s determination to steal the unicorn could mean he had one at his previous home.

“It’s so sweet. It’s amazing. I mean, he’s obviously super smart, and even when we got him to the animal shelter, he’s been very obedient. He sits, shakes. Someone should be looking for him,” Joe Newburn, a supervisor at Duplin County Animal Services, said.

“I don’t know of any other reason why he would focus on the unicorn other than he had one at home. If the store had called and said he tore open dog food, that would make more sense but not hunting for a purple unicorn.”

After arriving at the shelter, the organization shared a few photos of Sisu along with his story to Facebook.

“This is what happens when you break into the Dollar General consistently to steal the purple unicorn that you laid claim to but then get animal control called to lock you up for your B & E and larceny, but the officer purchases your item for you and brings it in with you,” the post read.

Fans of the shelter were taken by Sisu’s story and adoption applications for the stray dog began pouring in. On Friday, the shelter announced Sisu and his unicorn would be leaving soon to move into their forever home.

Along with his new home, Sisu will be getting even more unicorn pals. Crystal Luce, a spokesperson for Dollar General, revealed the company will be sending the pooch a “few extra purple unicorns for the adoptive family.” She added, “We are glad to see Sisu is happy with his new toy!”

However, Sisu won’t be the only one receiving something from Dollar General. The retailer will also make a pet food donation to Duplin County Animal Services and send a thank you gift to officer Lane.
