A loyal dog can finally take shelter in a safe home with loved ones after waiting weeks for his owner, who was allegedly raped and brutally murdered by a Russian soldier.
Adviser to the Minister of Internal Affairs of Ukraine, Anton Gerashchenko, shared the story of the dog named Reeny in Ukraine, who “doesn’t know” what happened to his pet parent, identified as Tetiana from Makariv, near Kyiv.
Tetiana is said to have been murdered when Russian forces launched an attack against Kyiv and sent rippling waves of violence in the surrounding areas of Makariv, Bucha, Irpin and Dmytrivka, according to Yahoo News Australia.
Gerashchenko shared a video captured by locals showing the inside of Tetiana's ransacked home. Items were either strewn on the floor or thrown out, and one of the rooms even had sheets and a mattress stained with blood.
As they enter the bedroom, one of the women can be heard sobbing as she says, “Here she was murdered.”

The rapist was part of Chechen forces that entered Tetiana's village, a woman said in the video.
Tetiana was allegedly waiting to flee the area with a friend when she was dragged out of her home and taken into a nearby building, where she was raped and tortured.
"No one knows for how long the woman was tortured. No one could help her because the locals were locked up in basements by Russians," Gerashchenko said on Telegram, according to the outlet. “The ones who managed to stay home couldn't even approach their windows — they were shot right away. Later people said that the rapist was killed by a Russian soldier and Tetiana was buried in the yard of that house.”
According to Gerashchenko, Tetiana lost her husband to COVID-19 in March 2020 before losing her own life this year on March 15, according to Media Debut. He also shared a video of 9-year-old Reeny, who was waiting for Tetiana because the dog still “doesn’t know” she was murdered.
This is Reeny, 9 years old. Her human Tetiana we wrote about was brutally murdered. Reeny doesn't know and still waits for her. No one took care of Reeny during the month of occupation. Now looking for kind hands who will help her recover.#GenocideOfUkrainians pic.twitter.com/l3SzIXn6Ff

“This dog was like a child for her. Some people tried to take her away, but this is not possible. Reeny is very sick and does not want to leave the house, epilepsy begins. The neighbors have united and fed Reeny,” Gerashchenko tweeted Sunday.
Gerashchenko was able to share some happy news Monday and said Tetiana’s relatives are opening their doors to welcome Reeny home.
“Relatives of the deceased Tetiana were found and are ready to take Reeny in,” Gerashchenko wrote.
Do you remember Reeny? Thank you all for your kind comments! Today my friend Olena visited her. Relatives of the deceased Tetiana were found and are ready to take Reeny in. It’s dangerous for her to stay in her yard - the garage next door is still mined.#StandUpForUkraine pic.twitter.com/JyLzAvpdGc
