Dolly Parton is proud of her goddaughter Miley Cyrus and is a big fan of her new song "Flowers."
Parton gushed about Cyrus and her new breakup single "Flowers" during an interview with Us Weekly Tuesday while promoting her new Duncan Hines baking collection.
"I love that song. Miley is so great. I mean, I just am so proud of her as a singer and songwriter," Parton, 76, said.
She added, "I don't know who wrote that, but I have a feeling she had plenty to do with it. It was her story if not her actual writing."
Cyrus is credited as a songwriter on the track along with Gregory Aldae Hein and Michael Pollack, the outlet noted.
"Flowers" was released Friday, which was the 33rd birthday of Cyrus' ex-husband Liam Hemsworth, sparking rumors that the song may be about their failed marriage.
Fans pointed to the lyrics, which included the lines "I can buy my own flowers" and "I can hold my own hand," as hints that the track could be referring to their past romance.
The song also mentions a couple who "built a home and watched it burn," which some fans speculated was a reference to Cyrus and Hemsworth's Malibu mansion, which burned down in a November 2018 wildfire one month before they tied the knot.
Cyrus and Hemsworth announced their split less than a year after their wedding. They finalized their divorce in January 2020.
Meanwhile, Parton and Cyrus have maintained a close bond throughout the years.
The "I Will Always Love You" singer paid sweet tribute to Cyrus on her 30th birthday in November 2022 by sharing two photos of them on Instagram.
"Happy birthday, @MileyCyrus! I can't wait to celebrate with you and ring in the new year!! [red heart emoji]," Parton wrote in the caption.
The "Jolene" songstress previously spoke about how proud she was to be an inspiration to young singers. However, she said that she doesn't give advice to the new generation, including her goddaughter Cyrus.
"I don't give advice, but I got a lot of information. Same with Miley," Parton told Us Weekly in January 2022. "Everybody says, 'Do you give Miley advice?' I said, 'Nobody gives Miley advice.' She's [as] headstrong as I am, but we both respect each other. And we share things."
