KEY POINTS

  • Donald Trump was called a bully by CNN's editor-in-chief Chris Cillizza.
  • Donald Trump throws shade at Greta Thunberg.
  • Donald Trump's supporters don't condemn his actions.

President Donald Trump was recently called a bully after he criticized Greta Thunberg on social media.

Following TIME magazine’s announcement that the 16-year-old is their Person of the Year, the POTUS lashed out at Thunberg.

After he posted his cryptic tweet to his millions of followers, the POTUS was heavily criticized by non-supporters. Chris Cillizza, the editor-at-large at CNN, called Melania Trump’s husband a “bully.”

“Trump is a bully. And he has shown time and again that he has no qualms about bullying anyone and everyone… Trump is Trump. He has never behaved in any other way than this. Which doesn't excuse Trump's behavior? But it makes the surprise that he acts this way impossible,” he said.

Cillizza also pointed out the most troubling thing about what President Trump just did and it has to do with his supporters. The editor said the POTUS’ supporters didn’t condemn him for his absolutely appalling behavior, and this is concerning.

Regardless if one is a Trump supporter or not, everything should still be done with common decency in mind. Adult bullying should be condoned because it is wrong, and it becomes much worse if the person bullying a teenager is the president of the United States.

Cillizza also quoted the FLOTUS’ statement about cyberbullying and her “Be Best” campaign, which focuses on how social media can be used positively.

“It can be used in many positive ways, but can also be destructive and harmful when used incorrectly. This is why 'Be Best' chooses to focus on the importance of teaching our next generation how to conduct themselves safely and in a positive manner in an online setting,” the FLOTUS said.

Meanwhile, instead of calling out President Trump for his cryptic tweet, his supporters continued to troll Thunberg.

“Here’s a complete list of all of Greta’s accomplishments,” Paul Sacca tweeted alongside a photo of a clean notebook.

“If you have good sponsor, all doors open,” Twitter user @MaxLagowski said.

“Explain to us in detail how she’s going to practically save the planet,” Twitter user @NicVisuals said.
