- The POTUS was crazy over the FLOTUS
Donald Trump and Melania Trump’s whirlwind romance started decades ago when they met at a party during the New York Fashion Week.
At that time, the POTUS attended the bash with a female companion. But while his date was inside the bathroom, he struck up a conversation with the FLOTUS.
Trump was immediately smitten with the first lady, and he reportedly went crazy over her. The POTUS asked for Melania’s number but instead of giving it to him, the FLOTUS asked for the president’s number back.
In 2005, Melania spoke with CNN where she opened up about her relationship with her husband. She said that she felt an instant connection with the POTUS during the party.
“It was great chemistry and energy. We had a great time. We started to talk and something was there right away,” she gushed.
During the same interview, the president proudly said that he and Melania were very compatible because they never got into a fight during their five-year relationship. But even if this was the case, the first lady said that they decided to take all the time that they wanted before they got engaged.
Three years ago, one of Melania’s close friends claimed that the first lady struggled with trust issues at the beginning of her relationship with President Trump. This debunked the POTUS’s claim that he and his wife never had a single fight.
And according to The New York Times, two years after the couple started dating, they decided to call it quits. At that time, the president spoke with the publication and said that Melania is a great woman, and she will be missed.
A few months later, the FLOTUS and POTUS got back together. And in 2004, they finally got engaged. In 2005, the couple tied the knot at the Episcopal Church in Bethesda-by-the-Sea in Palm Beach, Florida.
While speaking with gossip columnist Cindy Adams before they tied the knot, the POTUS proudly said that his relationship with Melania has been his most successful. The president was previously married to Ivana Trump and Marla Maples.
