Donald Trump, Miss USA Update: NBC Is 'Weak,' He Writes In Official Response
Donald Trump might be fired, but NBC is weak, the presidential hopeful said in an Instagram statement. The network dropped Trump's Miss USA pageant Monday following offensive comments he made about immigration last week.
He wrote he doesn’t care about being let go from NBC because he has more important things to worry about -- like running for president of the United States. And if NBC wants to violate their contact with the Miss Universe/Miss USA pageant -- fine. But he will see them in court.
Here is Trump's full response:
“We must have strong borders and not let illegal immigrants enter the United States. As has been stated continuously in the press, people are pouring across our borders unabated. Public reports routinely state great amounts of crime are being committed by illegal immigrants. This must be stopped and it must be stopped now. Long ago I told NBC that I would not be doing The Apprentice because I am running for President in order to Make our Country Great Again.
If NBC is so weak and so foolish to not understand the serious illegal immigration problem in the United States, coupled with the horrendous and unfair trade deals we are making with Mexico, then their contract violating closure of Miss Universe/Miss USA will be determined in court. Furthermore, they will stand behind lying Brian Williams, but won’t stand behind people that tell it like it is, as unpleasant as that may be.”
Trump, 69, upset many when he said most of the people crossing the border were criminals and rapists who brought drugs into the U.S. He has refused to apologize for his comments.
It’s currently unknown what will happen with the Miss USA pagent, which was supposed to air on NBC July 12. Its reigning beauty queen, Nia Sanchez, has not released a statement on Trump’s offensive comments or the show being dumped.
