Donald Trump’s Presidency Created ‘Odd Dynamic’ Between Melania, Ivanka, Sparked ‘Friction’ In Relationship

Donald Trump’s presidency sparked an odd dynamic that created friction between Melania and Ivanka.

Trump has two wonderful women behind him, his wife Melania and daughter Ivanka. However, according to CNN reporter Kate Bennett, when he entered politics, things shifted between Melania and Ivanka.

Trump’s presidency created an “odd dynamic” which led to a friction between the first lady and the first daughter. At present, the two are reportedly “cordial, but not close.” Bennett further explained that this is due to Ivanka taking roles that are usually for the FLOTUS.

“One unique element of the Donald Trump administration is the presence of the President’s daughter, Ivanka Trump, and her relationship to First Lady, Melania Trump,” Bennett wrote in her book “Free Melania.”

“But it was 2016 during the Trump presidential campaign when the dynamic between the two women shifted to politics. Most times on the campaign trail, Melania was not interested in doing traditional spousal appearances so it was Ivanka, as surrogate, who stepped into the role,” she continued.

Bennett pointed out that Ivanka “stayed on as the female face of the administration and the family.” Ivanka also became the POTUS’ senior adviser and took on more issues that are usually taken care by the first lady like matters involving women, childcare credit and female entrepreneurship.

“This created an odd dynamic, switching off front seat-back seat as the two women in Trump’s orbit. A relationship, which one source with knowledge has said, has created a ‘cordial, but not close dynamic, and, at times, friction’,” Bennett added.

Melania and Ivanka also made their first big solo trip in Africa. Both also produce mini videos for public consumption. Thus, they are often pitted against each other. Bennett said that even if they split the traditional norms, they share one key component and that’s having the ear of the president.

Before Trump became the president, Melania and Ivanka were close. In fact, the former had said sweet things about the latter. Ivanka praised Melania in her book “Women Who Work” by mentioning the FLOTUS as an “unbelievable mother with a heart of gold.” She added that she appreciates the FLOTUS’ support and friendship.

Ivanaka’s mom, Ivana Trump, also said that the first daughter likes her stepmother because Melania didn’t cause her parents’ break up. However, Ivanka had a tension-filled relationship with Marla Maples.
