It's been almost three years since fans last saw the hit anime series, but if rumors online are to go by, it seems that "Dragon Ball Super" Season 2 might launch sometime in the first half of this year.

Possible Release Date

Mangaka Akira Toriyama said a few weeks after the hit anime series ended that there will be another "Dragon Ball Super" anime. In 2018, Toei Animation opened a new division solely focused on producing "Dragon Ball" content. But after almost three years and considering the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, the silence about the possible launch of "Dragon Ball Super" Season 2 is deafening.

The only hint about the said anime sequel that fans have is the tweet from Ryo Horikawa, the voice behind the Saiyan Prince Vegeta. In his tweet, the voice actor said that he just came out of a meeting with Toei Animation, but he would not tell fans what it's about. The tweet was followed by the hashtag dragonball.

Fans hope that Horikawa is suggesting that he might be involved in the early planning stages of "Dragon Ball Super" Season 2. Toei has not yet confirmed that it is working on the sequel of the hit anime series as of press time. Many fans, however, believe that the second season might launch in the middle of this year, in June 2021 or Winter 2021, three years after "Dragon Ball: Broly" hit the theaters.

Potential Plot And Villains

The rich story of the Moro arc of the manga could be the plot of "Dragon Ball Super" Season 2. Moro is a powerful villain and easily fits the trademark of the ranks of villains in the hit series. As a major threat to the multiverse and as the creature who haunted the universe and empowered himself by feeding on the life force of planets, Cell and Majin Buu pale compared to the level of evil Moro possesses.

Other theories claim that Toei will depart from the manga and have a totally new story. At this point, nothing is official yet about "Dragon Ball Super" Season 2. And until fans hear anything from Toei Animation, rumors and leaks related to the much-awaited anime sequel should be taken with a pinch of salt.
