Drew Barrymore "worships" her ex-husband Will Kopelman's new wife but makes sure to give the couple "space."
Barrymore, 46, gushed over Kopelman's new wife, Alexandra Michler, when the actress appeared on Dax Shepard's "Armchair Expert" podcast Monday.
"He just got remarried actually last week to this most amazing woman," Barrymore told Shepard of her art consultant ex-husband. "This incredible woman Allie, and I just feel like I won the lottery with her, like, I really did. I feel like I'm lucky that there's this new beautiful soul that came into our lives."
The "Blended" star added that she does not "try to be her best friend," but Michler "knows that I absolutely worship the ground she walks on, and I'm her biggest cheerleader."
While she gives the newlyweds "space," Barrymore said they spend time together and "do dinners with all the kids [and] birthdays." She also hinted at plans to take a trip together in the future.
"We're finding our way in a beautiful, slow, respectful manner," Barrymore said.
Barrymore and Kopelman tied the knot in 2012 and divorced four years later. The exes share two children together — daughters Olive, 9, and Frankie, 7.
Kopelman married Michler, the director of fashion development at Vogue, on Aug. 28 in a ceremony in Massachusetts. Olive and Frankie served as flower girls at the wedding.
"I'm just so lucky because she [Michler] came into Will's life and got to know my daughters very well and very real, saw all the warts and all the hearts, everything in between," the "Charlie's Angels" actress added. "Literally was like, 'I choose you.' It's a miracle, and I know miracles exist because I was so devastated that our relationship didn't work out because I wanted this."
An insider previously told People that Kopelman and Barrymore "had marriage issues" for a while before they called it quits. They reportedly couldn't agree on where to live, with Barrymore being drawn to Los Angeles and Kopelman preferring New York City.
Despite their split, Barrymore said, "I think Will and I did a kick a-- job of putting our kids first and showing solidarity."
