Drew Barrymore got candid about her divorce from Will Kopelman when she interviewed Machine Gun Kelly on her talk show.

Kelly is appearing on "The Drew Barrymore Show" this week to discuss vulnerability. Ahead of his guesting, a teaser showed Megan Fox's boyfriend talking about his emotional struggles, which prompted the host to share what she went through following her divorce from Kopelman.

"I went through a really painful divorce and I wasn't doing very well," she said in the sneak peek for their full interview to be aired Friday. "I had these two kids I had to fight for and I needed help. So I started reaching out to different people and eventually I made some big sweeping changes in my life. I got on a whole new track. Not back on track, but a whole new one that I helped build."

When Barrymore spoke with "CBS This Morning" Thursday, the host said her conversation with Kelly surprised her. She noted that it went in the direction she never expected.

"We were just set to do an interview about his nail polish," Barrymore explained. "I was so surprised by his vulnerability."

Barrymore admitted that she was very private when it came to her personal struggles. However, she also acknowledged that society has been more open to accepting and supporting each other's vulnerability.

"I wouldn't be surprised if there is a revolt against the perfection right now that we are all forced to see and feel through social media," she explained. "We're in an impasse and a crux of a moment where talking about how we figure ourselves out, how we fix ourselves takes a journey and solutions. Most people do it in private."

Barrymore also shared with "CBS This Morning" that she has been sober for over two years already after realizing that it "did not serve me and my life." Her journey after she quit drinking alcohol had been "quiet" and "confident."

Barrymore and Kopelman share two children — daughters Olive, 9, and Frankie, 7. They spent the Halloween weekend together with his new wife, Alexandra Michler.

"I went trick-or-treating on Sunday with Will and his beautiful wife Allie, my daughters' wonderful stepmother. I think honestly this is so ideal," she said.

Barrymore shared that she "worships" Kopelman's new wife. She even described Michler as "the most amazing woman" she has known. The "Charlie's Angels" star also said she "absolutely worship the ground she [Michler] walks on" and that she is her ex-husband's new wife's "biggest cheerleader."
