Dua Lipa is one of the few musicians who is making the most out of the quarantine period by frequently engaging with her fans on Instagram. Apart from talking, the singer also performs some of her greatest hits for people who tune in to see how she is spending her time. Fans love the way she interacts with them and how she keeps on making them happy amid the pandemic.
After seeing how she manages to put a smile on everyone's face, the New York Magazine dubbed her the “quarantine queen” and fans began trending her name and title on various social media platforms.
The “IDGAF” hitmaker has finally opened up about the title that she got, and she feels that it is quite “funny” to be called that during the coronavirus pandemic.
In an interview with Highsnobiety, the 24-year-old musician revealed that being called the “quarantine queen” seems “funny” because when she started her career, she only wanted her songs to be out and wanted them to be played in pubs or bars.
“ When I first wanted to put the music out, I imagined it being played in pubs and bars and for going out. Being called Quarantine Queen, I don't know - it's funny, I guess,” Lipa said.
The “Break My Heart” songstress further explained that spending time with herself during the lockdown has been a “learning experience” for her. But she also admitted that she had a hard time coping with it when the lockdown started.
“I have realised it is a learning experience, too. This is a time to do things I don't normally get to do. I think we all live a life where it is always like, 'What is next? What am I doing tomorrow?” Lipa said.
Recently, the singer noticed that people have been connecting with each other more frequently and so she hopes that they won’t forget about this when the pandemic ends.
Meanwhile, the acclaimed musician is riding high on the success of her new album “Future Nostalgia.” The album is the second top-rated album of 2020 on review aggregation site Metacritic, with an average score of 9.2 and a total score of 89.
The Guardian described the singer as "a true pop visionary" and awarded four stars to the album.
