Sony Interactive Entertainment recently unveiled its next-generation controller for PlayStation 5 called DualSense, and it is clear fans can’t get enough of it.

While not everyone is a fan of the new controller – with some criticizing its departure from the DualShock – there are still a lot who like its redesign. In fact, it didn’t take long for people to do their own mockups.

DualSense has clear sections and parts that allows for different colors and designs. Unlike DualShock 4, coming up with unique and complex designs for the controller is much easier given the space it has.

The new PS5 controller is not all about design, too. In contrast, it will be bringing in several new features that are expected to improve player immersion and the quality of gaming.

In our previous review comparing DualSense to the Xbox Series X controller, new features such as haptic feedback, built-in microphone and the create button were specifically highlighted.

Much like its Microsoft counterpart, DualSense will be adopting haptic feedback. Sony said that this “adds a variety of powerful sensations you’ll feel when you play, such as the slow grittiness of driving a car through mud.”

On the other hand, with a built-in microphone, players can now chat with their friends while playing even without the use of a headset. While it is not recommended for long conversations, it still a great addition when it comes to the overall gaming experience.

The share button has also been improved and renamed “create button.” While no further details were revealed on how it is a better version of its predecessor, Sony said that the create function will be “pioneering new ways for players to create epic gameplay content.”

More details are expected to be revealed about PlayStation 5 and DualSense in the coming months, especially with the development of the console entering its final stage. However, Sony is undoubtedly off to a good start with the kind of reception its controller is having currently.

PS5 and DualSense are both slated to be released sometime in Holiday 2020. Nonetheless, there is no specific release date yet for the next-generation console that promises to elevate gaming further along with the Xbox Series X.
