Dwayne Johnson Reacts To 'Black Adam' First Cut: 'Not Satisfied' [Watch]
Dwayne Johnson has good things to say about the first cut of his upcoming superhero movie, "Black Adam." But apparently, he's not totally satisfied with it.
"I think we're in a really good place," the 49-year-old actor told Collider Monday. "I think now's the time where… we take our time, yet there has to be some expediency to it because we do have to have the movie ready by next summer."
The actor also praised the director of the movie, Jaume Collet-Serra, noting that he "delivered a great first cut." He further explained how the "Black Adam" movie is something unique since the beginning.
"Black Adam is the kind of movie that, from [the] beginning, it had the makings and the bones to be something unique," Johnson explained.
The "Jungle Cruise" star further noted how "ambitious" the director is and applauded him for his work.
"[Collet-Serra] He, again, comes from that cadre of very talented Spanish filmmakers who want to get in and want to disrupt industry and disrupt craft, and he does it I think in such a great way," Johnson told the outlet.
The actor further explained that the first cut he watched was "clear and defining anchor to Black Adam's code" as it is important to not only build the character but also work on the franchise, considering his plans to relaunch the popular superhero team called Justice Society of America (JSA) in the future.
However, the actor noted that he is not completely satisfied with the first cut and they will continue to work on it.
"I am happy, yet not satisfied, and we will continue to put the work in," he added. "And the teaser that we showed about three weeks ago, it was a good indicator of what's to come."
Last month, Johnson dropped the first "Black Adam" teaser on Twitter. As expected, many fans expressed their excitement for the movie's release.
"Black Adam" is slated for release on July 29, 2022. It is currently under post-production.
Besides the superhero movie, Johnson will be seen in the movies "The King," "San Andreas 2," "Doc Savage" and "Big Trouble in Little China."
