'DWTS’ Alum Peta Murgatroyd Is In The Last Stages Of IVF Treatment; Expecting Pregnancy

“Dancing with the Stars” alums Maksim Chmerkovskiy and Peta Murgatroyd are eagerly hoping for a new baby as they reached the last stages of their IVF journey.

"It's going really well," Murgatroyd described her IVF treatment in an exclusive interview with ET at the 2022 Espy Awards on Wednesday. "We're very excited. We're kind of in the last stages of it. There should be -- fingers crossed -- a pregnancy pretty soon," she added.

The couple has been sharing their IVF-related activities since June following Murgatroyd’s revelation about her miscarriage while her husband was in Ukraine filming as a judge for the “World of Dance UA.” Earlier, the couple shared a video of Murgatroyd’s medical appointment including an ultrasound of her ovarian follicles ahead of her egg retrieval process.

Maksim admitted that he was not sure about pursuing IVF treatment in the beginning but he learned a valuable lesson after going through it.

"I was a skeptic to the openness of it, and asking 'How open we want to be?' Now I realize that the reason why people do struggle with it is because it's such a taboo to talk about it," Maksim told the outlet. "A lot of people need to understand that maybe it would bypass a lot of the drama if you know that this is an option."

While some marriages crumble as couples pursue IVF treatment, Murgatroyd said she and her husband remain close despite the difficulties of the procedure.

"You hear the horror stories about it -- marriages breaking up all that stuff -- it's pretty dramatic, but it hasn't gone there,” she said. "But, yeah there's been some times where I'm like, 'Oh my gosh, I can't believe I'm doing this,'" she admitted. "But honestly, we're good. This is the path for us."

The 36-year-old dancer married Maksim in 2017 and share a five-year-old son, Shai.

Meanwhile, Maksim’s brother Val and his wife Jenna Johnson are expecting their first baby. Johnson shared the news on her Instagram page Wednesday and wrote, “The moment my whole world changed.”

The 28-year-old ballroom dancer, who danced with JoJo Siwa on Season 30 of DWTS, revealed that she and Val had stopped trying to conceive for six months before she became pregnant.
