E3 2019: Press Conference Schedule And Preview For Xbox, Nintendo, Ubisoft, And More
While E3 is always a hotbed of new game reveals and fresh looks at upcoming titles, one of the highlights every year is the press conferences. Before the floor opens on Tuesday, some of the biggest publishers and developers in the industry will take to the stage to provide gamers just a taste of what’s to come on the main floor.
And some companies didn’t wait to get started. Google already hosted a livestream to go more in-depth with its cloud gaming service, Stadia, which launches in November. Bungie also took the chance to talk about the future of “Destiny” and unveil its newest expansion, “Destiny 2: Shadowkeep.”
But that was just the tip of the iceberg. Here’s what’s in store for gamers before the E3 show floor opens up on Tuesday.
Saturday, June 8th
Electronic Arts is going to get weekend festivities started with its own EA Play event, running June 8-9. But instead of a traditional press conference like it has held in the past, EA will be hosting a series of livestreams on Saturday to highlight some of its current and upcoming games. The livestream will begin with at 9:15 A.M. PST/12:15 P.M. EST, kicking off with “Star Wars: Jedi Fallen Order.” Other games scheduled for the livestream include “Battlefield V,” “FIFA 20,” and “Apex Legends.”
Sunday, June 9th
Microsoft will look get to get Sunday started with a bang with its annual Xbox conference. Coming off a 2018 press conference where Xbox revealed it had picked up five new studios and was expanding Xbox Game Pass, 2019 could be even bigger. The current suspicion is that a new Xbox console will be officially announced after nearly a year of teases. 343 Studios is also expected to offer more details about what’s in store for Master Chief in “Halo: Infinite.” Phil Spencer has also teased there will be 14 first-party games shown off during this year’s conference.
Bethesda will follow Microsoft with its conference at 5:30 P.M. PST/8:30 P.M. EST. Bethesda has been especially quiet about what will be shown, though it does have a few projects in the pipe. “Doom: Eternal” and “Wolfenstein: Youngblood” will likely be a major focus, with both due out before the end of 2019. And while unlikely, there’s a chance Bethesda could offer a few more details on “The Elder Scrolls 6” or “Starfield.”
Devolver Digital will close out Sunday with its own press conference at 7 P.M. PST/10 P.M. EST. While Devolver has typically brought a strong slate of games to E3, it also has a “unique” approach to its shows. And given the last two years, it isn’t hard to imagine 2019’s show following suit.
Monday, June 10th
Monday kicks off with the PC Gaming Show at 10 A.M PST/1 P.M. EST. The show, organized by PC Gamer Magazine, has emerged as a more offbeat show to highlight the work of PC devs that may not get the spotlight from companies like Microsoft. 2019’s show will be sponsored by the Epic Games Store and will once again be hosted by Sean [Day9] Plott.
Ubisoft will then get its show started at 1 P.M. PST/4P.M. EST. Currently, the only game confirmed for the show is “Watch Dogs: Legion,” which was leaked ahead of E3 thanks to Amazon. Not much is known, otherwise, about what Ubisoft is going to be talking about during its E3 conference. However, it wouldn’t be surprising to see “Ghost Recon: Breakpoint” during the show as it was only announced recently.
Square Enix will bring Monday to a close with its second-ever E3 conference at 6 P.M. PST/9 P.M. EST. Square jumped on the time slot after Sony announced it wouldn’t be hosting a conference at E3 2019 and is teasing an “exciting lineup of titles.” And while it could have several big games, the expected focus of the show will be on the “Final Fantasy VII Remake” and Square’s upcoming “Marvel’s Avengers” game.
Tuesday, June 11th
The final show before E3 officially opens will come from Nintendo on Tuesday at 9 A.M. PST/12 P.M. EST. As it has in the past, Nintendo will be airing a pre-recorded Nintendo Direct to highlight some of its bigger games, like “Metroid Prime 4.” However, Nintendo has not even teased what it could be showing in this year’s Direct.
