Eddie Van Halen's son, Wolfgang Van Halen, revealed that his father's death "still doesn't feel real" 10 months later.

Wolfgang took to Instagram Thursday to share a series of photos of him with the rock legend, who died of cancer last year. The snaps showed the 30-year-old musician holding a red electric guitar in the recording studio as he and his father flash huge smiles at the camera. In some pictures, the Van Halen guitarist leaned in to give Wolfgang a kiss on the cheek.

"I’ve had so many dreams lately where Pop and I are just doing normal things and then I realize it’s a dream, stop whatever I’m doing and hug him for as long as I can until I wake up," Wolfgang wrote in the caption. "I miss the f--k out of him. I can’t believe he’s not here anymore. Still doesn’t feel real."

The Mammoth WVH musician went on to say that he is trying his best to live his life as he continues to grieve his dad's passing. "I’m doing my best, Pop," he wrote.

Wolfgang received messages of love and support following his heartwrenching note, with some saying they could relate to his grief over losing a loved one.

"I feel this. I dream I’m with my dad and wake up and it’s all a huge disappointment. I’m always here for you. Reach out anytime if you ever need to talk. I’ve been without my dad since 2013. Love [you] dude," Shaun Foist commented.

"Love you Wolf. He’s with you beaming with pride. You’re carrying the torch with honor and in your own way. Biggest hugs bro," Trev Lukather wrote.

"You’re carrying the torch now Wolf and you’re doing super. Your dad would be looking down with [a] huge smile, no doubt," another follower wrote.

Eddie died at age 65 on Oct. 6, 2020, after a years-long battle with throat cancer. Wolfgang announced his dad's death on social media.

"I can’t believe I’m having to write this, but my father, Edward Lodewijk Van Halen, has lost his long and arduous battle with cancer this morning," he wrote on Instagram along with a photo of his dad smiling. "I can’t believe I’m having to write this, but my father, Edward Lodewijk Van Halen, has lost his long and arduous battle with cancer this morning."

Wolfgang said Eddie was "the best father" as he recounted the moments they shared while performing together on stage. He added that his "heart is broken" and that he doesn't think he will "ever fully recover from this loss."

"I love you so much, Pop," Wolfgang wrote.

Since his father's passing, Wolfgang has been leaning on family and loved ones, including his mother Valerie Bertinelli. In June, he told People that mourning with his mom has brought them even closer together.

"My girlfriend and I pretty much go over to my mom's house every day to see her and play with her cats that we love," he said.

Bertinelli was married to Eddie for 25 years before separating in 2001 and getting divorced in 2007.
