‘Edge Of Tomorrow 2’ Gets Catchy Title; Emily Blunt To Reprise Role
Director Doug Liman revealed the title for “Edge of Tomorrow 2.”
In a recent interview with Collider, Liman said that the sequel to his 2014 military sci-fi film “Edge of Tomorrow,” starring Tom Cruise and Emily Blunt, will be called “Live Die Repeat and Repeat.”
The title should sound familiar to those who knew the original film, because the phrase “Live. Die. Repeat.” was used as the tagline for the movie. The first film was originally called “All You Need Is Kill,” which is the title of Hiroshi Sakurazaka’s 2004 Japanese novel, on which the movie is based. Although Warner Bros. changed the film’s title to “Edge of Tomorrow” for its theatrical release, it seems that Liman preferred to call the movie “Live. Die. Repeat.” as the said tagline was given more emphasis in the flick’s Blu-ray and VOD covers.

In addition to Cruise, who was previously confirmed to reprise his role as Major William “Bill” Cage in the follow-up film, Liman revealed that Blunt is also set to return as Sergeant Rita Vrataski in the sequel.
“Tom is excited about it, and Emily Blunt is excited about it,” Liman said of the actors’ enthusiasm for the project. “The big question is just when we’ll do it. But it’s not an if, it’s a when.”
Although Liman refused to reveal any plot details about the sequel, Liman said that fans of the original film won’t be disappointed with the follow-up movie. “We have an amazing story! It’s incredible!” Liman teased of the upcoming of “Edge of Tomorrow 2.” “[It’s] way better than the first film, and I obviously loved the first film.”
Last October, Liman told IGN that the follow-up film “is going to revolutionize how people make sequels.”
In a separate interview with Collider around the same time, Liman said that “Edge of Tomorrow 2” is actually a sequel that is a prequel.
“I’ve had some radical ideas about how to make a sequel that would interest me, in the same way that I had ideas of how you make an independent film and then Swingers came along and it was like ‘Aha, that’s the perfect movie for me to test these ideas out on,’” he said. “I had these intellectual ideas on how you should make a sequel that are unlike how anybody else makes a sequel, and this script and this idea fit perfectly into that idea. So it’s gonna revolutionize how people make sequels. And again that’s why I try to do things like Invisible that are just, the revolution’s sort of built into the idea. It’s more heresy in the film world for me to pitch things that are sort of unheard of.”
Despite “Edge of Tomorrow’s” critical acclaim from critics, the film only had a lukewarm box-office reception. According to Box Office Mojo, the film — which had a production budget of $178 million — grossed $100.2 million in North America and $270.3 million in foreign territories for a worldwide total of $370.5 million.
