Elaine Welteroth is leaving "The Talk" after just one season on the show.

The 34-year-old journalist and author made the announcement in a statement obtained by People Tuesday, saying she was proud of her stint on the CBS daytime talk show.

"It is an absolute honor for anyone, but especially a young Black woman, to occupy space on-air where our perspectives are largely underrepresented," Welteroth wrote. "It was gratifying to be able to show up as my authentic self in front of a live national audience every day in a world as divided as ours and to stay true to myself and what I stand."

According to Welteroth, she joined the show to "break out of my own echo camper" and to "join a diverse cast in helping to bridge some of the divides in our world through conversation and empathy." However, she said she felt that it was time for her to move on.

"I'm proud of how I represented myself and my community. But as I always say: when the music changes, so must your dance! I will miss my talented co-hosts and crew and I wish them the very best. Thanks to all those who tuned in every day," she added.

Welteroth then teased plans to "continue these necessary conversations in my work" and reveal new "creative projects" in the near future.

"The Talk" executive producers Heather Gray and Kristin Matthews also released a joint statement to address Welteroth's exit.

"We wish Elaine all the best," they wrote. "We are grateful for her passion, enthusiasm, and insight she brought to the show daily. Her openness and meaningful conversations were attributes we admired and always appreciated."

Welteroth, who joined "The Talk" Season 11 in December 2020, is the New York Times bestselling author of "More Than Enough: Claiming Space for Who You Are No Matter What They Say." She was named editor-in-chief of Teen Vogue in 2016 and previously held roles at Glamour and Ebony.

She has been busy promoting her other show, "Project Runway." "Best [season] yet, coming in hot October 14th," she captioned a photo on Monday.

Meanwhile, Welteroth's exit comes just two weeks after Carrie Ann Inaba announced on Aug. 20 that she would not be returning to the chat show after three seasons as co-host.

Inaba had taken a leave from "The Talk's" 11th season in April for medical reasons but later confirmed that she, the show and CBS had "mutually agreed to part ways."

"The Talk" will debut its new season on Sept. 13.
