International cable supplier, Eland Cables, achieved the highest ever rank of any electrical cable supplier, taking home the ‘Best Companies to Work for’ in 2009 from The Sunday Times.

The Sunday Times Best Companies awards represent the biggest barometer of workplace engagement in the UK.

A total of 997 companies entered the competition and there were approximately 200,000 employee opinions. Eland was described by the Sunday Times as ‘well-managed’ and ‘professional’ with ‘plenty of room for ambition.’

The company finished 12th in its category (companies with 50-249 employees), a big step up of 69 places from the previous year.

“This is a fantastic achievement for everyone at Eland. A company is only ever as good as the people it employs, and I firmly believe we employ some of the very best”, said Philip Brown the companies managing director.
