The Marais Executioner’s Sword is one of the nine legendary armaments in “Elden Ring.” It can be acquired a bit later in the game, but players can make a beeline straight for it if they’re strong enough.

To get this sword, players need to reach the Altus Plateau and its subsequent area, Mt. Gelmir. However, instead of going to the volcano via the Wyndham Ruins, players must take a detour toward the Shaded Castle north of the main avenue.

From the Grand Lift of Dectus, head straight north and go down into the valley. Ride straight down into the chasm and into the toxic bog at the end. The Shaded Castle should be at the center of the swamp.

Go to the western wall, there should be some rubble that Torrent can clamber onto. Hop onto the ramparts and head east to reach a Site of Grace.

The Shaded Castle acts as a world dungeon, so expect some tough opponents inside. Notable ones include Cleanrot Knights and Perfumers with burst-fire crossbows. At the center of the keep is Elemer of the Briar, a boss that players may have encountered before at the Warmaster’s Shack as the Bell-Bearing Hunter.

Elemer and the Hunter have almost the same moveset, but the former has some more moves up his sleeve. He fights with the Marais Executioner Sword. Elemer can telepathically control the weapon, greatly extending its range and unpredictability.

Luckily, the boss’ moveset is somewhat limited, and his attacks are easy to dodge. Some of his slower moves do hit harder, though, so try to watch out for those.

After beating Elemer, he will drop the Marais Executioner’s Sword and unlock a chest containing the Valkyrie’s Prosthetic item, which is tied directly to the NPC Millicent found in Caelid.

The Marais Executioner’s Sword has a unique weapon skill that lets the player throw the sword forwards, drilling through targets while causing both normal and bleed damage.

The sword requires 24 STR, 13 DEX and 23 ARC to use. As of the 1.03 patch, this weapon now correctly scales with these stats as opposed to before, so it should be more effective across the board.
