Election 2012: Ann Coulter Says Newt Gingrich Unfit To Be President Over Extramarital Affairs

Conservative political commentator and author Ann Coulter slammed Republican presidential candidate Newt Gingrich, criticizing him because of his extramarital affairs.

You can say it's unfair, but it's like being a hunchback -- you can't have two affairs and run for president, Coulter said Friday in a Fox News interview.

Appearing in a Fox & Friends segment, Coulter was asked about whether it was becoming of Gingrich to stay in the presidential-nomination race while he falls further behind opponents Mitt Romney and Rick Santorum in the delegate count.

I'm probably the wrong person to ask, since I think it was unbecoming of Newt Gingrich to even run for president, Coulter said.

Coulter has criticized Gingrich in the past, and she has supported scrutiny of his previous affairs and marriages. During the South Carolina debate in January, CNN moderator John King asked Gingrich about allegations by his ex-wife that he had sought an open marriage.

To take an ex-wife and make it two days before the primary a significant question in a presidential campaign is as close to despicable as anything I can imagine, Gingrich told King, CNN reported.

Coulter defended the question while appearing on Fox & Friends in January, saying, The South Carolina audience loves when he yells at John King for making a perfectly legitimate opening question.

Coulter added then: John King is a completely fair reporter, an honorable reporter. And Newt Gingrich goes back to the well [in] attacking the media, and I resent that.

In the Fox & Friends segment Friday, Coulter tempered her criticism of Gingrich, but maintained he was unfit to be president.

Look, he's smart, he say interesting things, he's an interesting person to talk to -- he is not presidential material, she said. That's why I have been against him, and he has to know that.
