Electrician Cuts Off Power To Entire Village To Secretly Meet Girlfriend In The Dark
An Indian man was busted for allegedly cutting off the power supply to his entire village just so he could secretly meet his girlfriend in the dark. The electrician was caught red-handed by the villagers and was forced into marriage with the woman in light of the incident.
The residents of Ganeshpur village in the state of Bihar experienced frequent power outages for months and noticed that it would occur for two to three hours at a particular time in the evening, according to India.com.
Villagers reportedly found it strange that neighboring villages faced no issue during that particular time of the day while they were stuck in the dark without any electricity.
When they began investigating the issue, the residents suspected that the electrician in question was intentionally cutting the power supply to meet his girlfriend in the dark.
The locals then hatched a plan to catch the man red-handed.
Villagers gathered together when their power supply was cut off next and found the electrician at a school with his girlfriend.
Witnesses said the villagers beat the man up, shaved his hair, and paraded him down the streets, according to The Tribune. They also forced the couple to take each other as husband and wife.
A resident in the village, Marar Ram Murmu, told the local media that "the man was married to the girl" in the "presence" of local leaders in the village.
Cops have not taken any action in the case. “We have come to know about the incident but will act once we receive a complaint,” said a local police officer, Vikas Kumar Azad.
Another incident, where a power outage caused a bizarre conundrum, was reported in India this week after two sisters accidentally got exchanged at a wedding when the lights went out. Three sisters, all dressed alike, were getting married on the same night in the Indian state of Madhya Pradesh. The power went off during the wedding rituals, and two of the brides accidentally sat next to the wrong grooms. When the families realized the mix-up, they had the priest perform the ceremony once again with the right bride and groom.
