  • The Miz cashed in his Money in the Bank contract on Drew McIntyre at WWE Elimination Chamber 2021
  • The Miz is now a two-time WWE Champion
  • The Miz first won the WWE Championship back in 2010

The conclusion of this year’s WWE Elimination Chamber pay-per-view ended in a pretty familiar fashion: one of the company’s biggest current stars was laid out, while The Miz stood tall with the WWE Championship.

Almost a decade after his initial run with the promotion’s top prize, The Miz is once again the WWE Champion after cashing in his Money In The Bank briefcase on former WWE Champion Drew McIntyre, who was not in the best shape by the end of the night.

McIntyre had just successfully defended his title inside the Elimination Chamber, beating out five of Raw’s top contenders in Randy Orton, Jeff Hardy, AJ Styles, Kofi Kingston, and Sheamus--all former world champions.

After the grueling match, McIntyre was attacked by Bobby Lashley, who had lost his United States Title to Riddle in a Triple Threat match earlier that night.

With McIntyre battered, beaten, and barely able to get up, The Miz took his chance and became a two-time WWE Champion.

Before we embark on Miz’s second reign as the organization’s top champion, let’s take a quick look back at his first run with the title.

Just like this latest run at the title, Miz’s first taste of the WWE Championship stemmed from him winning the WWE Money In The Bank match in July 2010.

In November of that same year, Miz would cash in his contract against Randy Orton, who had just defeated Wade Barrett to retain the WWE Championship.

Miz would go into a long feud with Orton throughout the course of the next few months before getting into a program with John Cena.

The highlight of Miz’s run with the title was his WrestleMania main event win against Cena. He would ultimately drop the title to Cena at WWE Extreme Rules in May 2011.

Many viewed The Miz’s run as WWE Champion as somewhat lackluster, but it did shine the spotlight on his ability to be an excellent heel champion.

With The Miz about to begin another WWE Championship run, here’s hoping that he gets booked better this time around.
