Elizabeth Hurley has revealed that she and her ex-boyfriend Hugh Grant have remained "good friends" in the years that followed their split in 2000.

It's been 21 years since Hurley, 55, and Grant, 60, parted ways, but their friendship is still going strong, according to the "Bedazzled" star.

"I'm still extremely good friends with Hugh," she said during an interview with "People in the '90s" podcast. "You know, we went through so much together. But I've been thinking, one of the most important things to keep good relations with your exes is to have a lot of respect for their current life."

Hurley met the "Notting Hill" star in 1987 while filming the Spanish production of "Remando Al Viento." The two stars dated for 13 years, even through Grant's infamous encounter with a sex worker in 1995, before amicably breaking up in May 2000. The actor is the godfather to Hurley's son, Damian.

As for how they've maintained their friendship, Hurley said it has mainly to do with respect.

"We haven't been romantically involved for 20 years, I think, even though we have such a strong friendship. But we're always very aware that there are other people in our lives," she shared.

"There's partners, there's children. You can't just, sort of, live in a lovely, rosy, mist of the past. You have to move with the times and be very respectful of the present, which we are," she added.

In October 2020, Hurley revealed that she still speaks to Grant nearly every day and asks him for advice on scripts.

"I speak to him quite a lot. I was asking him his advice on a script I just received." Hurley told the TV show "People."

"I still go to him for advice on scripts, even though he's very happily married with five children and I'm very happy in my own life, there's still certain bits we crossover with very well," she shared. "And asking advice about work, he's still my go-to person."

Grant also discussed his friendship with Hurley on "The Jess Cagle Interview" in 2018. According to the "Love Actually" actor, they had been through tough times together before they made it big.

"We're like brother and sister," Grant said of his relationship with his ex. "I think it's partly because we went from zero to somewhere together, and we went through terrible years at the beginning when neither of us had any work, living in a tiny flat. It was quite bonding."
