Ellen DeGeneres Hopes She Has Kids Due To Boredom Despite Saying It’s ‘Big Commitment’

Ellen DeGeneres recently joked about wanting to have kids out of boredom because she has been on self-quarantine for the past couple of days.

On her Instagram account, the comedian posted a video of herself calling John Legend. When the singer picked up, DeGeneres asked how he’s been doing and Legend said that he’s fine.

Legend’s wife, Chrissy Teigen also said hello to DeGeneres before the “Ellen Show” host said that she wants to have kids because she’s bored. Legend said that he and her wife have two kids but they’re also bored due to the coronavirus quarantine.

Even though DeGeneres’ statement about wanting to have kids was obviously just a joke, her fans couldn’t help but recall the funny woman’s real thoughts about having kids with his wife, Portia de Rossi.

The couple tied the knot in 2008 and in 2015, she explained why they have decided to not have children together.

“I love kids, but that’s such a big commitment. It seems long-term. It seems like a commitment that you have to stick with. And I just don’t know if I can – it’s too risky,” she said on “Today Show.”

DeGeneres tried to make light of the situation by asking what if she doesn’t like the kid and if the kids turn out to not as cute or as talented as she wants it to be.

“I’m gonna compare it to all these kids that I have on this show that are so smart and funny, and I’m like, ‘You are nowhere near these kids I had on today,’” she joked.

In 2014, de Rossi appeared on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” where host Jimmy Kimmel asked the “Scandal” alum if the rumors about her and DeGeneres having a baby were true. De Rossi said that they are not more than just rumors that don’t seem to go away.

The actress also said that she feels she’s been disappointing the entire country by not having a baby with her longtime wife.
