Elton John Net Worth 2017: How Much Wealth Did The Musician Amass?
Musician Elton John cancelled all his concert dates in April and May after contracting a “harmful and unusual bacterial infection,” raising concerns among his fans about the singer’s health.
“I am so fortunate to have the most incredible and loyal fans and apologize for disappointing them,” John said in a statement Monday. “I am extremely grateful to the medical team for their excellence in looking after me so well.”

The 70-year-old legend had a net worth of $450 million in 2014, according to CNN Money. In 2015, The Richest reported a spike in his net worth, pegging it at $480 million.
John also figured on Forbes’ 2016 Celebrity 100 Earnings, which reported the “Rocket Man” singer earned $42 million in the year, mostly courtesy the 94 gigs he played during the period.
The singer-songwriter, who also earns a significant amount from writing and composing music for big ventures like “The Lion King,” formed a new music company called the Rocket Music Entertainment Group in 2011.
John is a firm believer in charity and according to the Sunday Times’ Giving List for 2015, he gave over $30 million in donations. The amount made just under 9 percent of his wealth, the publication reported at the time.
In a 2016 interview, John said he and husband David Furnish were in the process of drafting their wills and had decided to not leave all their wealth to their sons.
“Having children changed everything about my life. I’ve learned that the simplest things in life – like having a minute with them – are worth more than any painting, any photograph, any house or any hit record,” John told the Mirror at the time.
“Of course I want to leave my boys in a very sound financial state,” he added. “But it’s terrible to give kids a silver spoon. It ruins their life.”
“I came from a very working class family and was born in a council estate house,” he explained. “I earned everything I did from hard work and that’s the way they’ve got to do it as well.”
