'Empire' Season 2 Filming Complete; What Will Happen When The Show Returns?
"Empire" Season 2 is set to return at the end of the month and odds are it will be loaded with shocking moments, guest stars and of course more drama within the Lyon family. Only eight episodes remain and it appears that the show has completed filming the remainder of the sophomore season.
Taraji P. Henson (Cookie Lyon) revealed that the filming for Season 2 had wrapped up when she posted a picture on Instagram of Bryshere Y. Gray (Hakeem) sleeping on set. You can see the photo below.
In the caption on the photo, Henson said "no one is safe," but it's unclear if she's talking about the show or her trolling her co-stars. When the show returns on March 30, it will have to answer several questions, including the fates of some of the main characters.
The fall finale contained several major moments on the show. Hakeem turned his back on his family and voted for his ex-girlfriend Camilla (Naomi Campbell) to take control of the company. It now appears as though she'll be ready to give Hakeem the keys to the kingdom, which of course strikes a nerve with Lucious (Terrence Howard). In a recent promo video, Lucious and Hakeem were shown threatening to kill each other.
While battling his son to get his company back, Lucious will also be up against Jamal (Jussie Smollett) for the song of the year award at the American Sound Awards. Lucious has never won the coveted award and he will stop at nothing to get it, even if that means getting one over his own son. Lucious and Cookie might also start to get close again once the show returns.
One of the biggest questions left to be answered is the fate of Andre's (Trai Byers) wife Rhonda (Kaitlin Doubleday) and their baby. Rhonda, who is pregnant, was shoved down a flight of stairs from behind, likely by Anika (Grace Gealey). She was shown laying there unconscious when episode 10 ended.
