Enrique Iglesias Clarifies He Is Not Retiring From Music Industry
Enrique Iglesias has said he is not going to stop making music despite announcing recently that his upcoming album would be his last.
The 46-year-old singer clarified the issue in an exclusive interview with ET’s Matt Cohen while promoting his upcoming tour with Ricky Martin. He said he is not retiring from the industry and that he would continue making music and doing other fruitful endeavors in the future.
"It's important for me to say that I'm not retiring, it's just my final album," the “Bailando” singer told Cohen. "That doesn't mean I'm gonna stop touring, that doesn't mean I'm gonna go somewhere and crawl into a cave and disappear,” he added.
Martin quipped, "Maybe you can throw a single once in a while," to which Iglesias agreed and said, "Exactly exactly. Maybe I can come up with my own clothing line, maybe I open up a restaurant, maybe, I don't know."
On Sept. 4, Iglesias announced the release of “Final Vol. 1” on his Instagram account. “FINAL Sep 17th,” he wrote.
On Sept. 17, he posted a short clip showing one of his kids enjoying the tracks in the album.
“FINAL (Vol.1) is out!!!!!! Gracias a todos mis fans por vuestro apoyo #Finalalbum,” he captioned the post.
Meanwhile, the second volume of “Final” is set to be released at a later date, ET reported.
"Final. Yes the title says it all. I've been wanting to do this project for quite a while since 2017. I just feel like I'm in that place in my career where I just felt that it was necessary and I always wanted to have an album called ‘Final,’” he said in his interview with ET.
"And during the past year and a half, I've been able to write a lot of songs, which is why there's ‘ Final Vol 1’ and ‘ Final Vol. 2’ but that's really it for me when it comes on two albums. That doesn't mean I'm going to stop writing songs, and I can't put out singles, but this is it,” Iglesias added.
On fans clamoring for a joint album between Iglesias and Martin, the “Livin La Vida Loca” crooner said: "This is final but I can pull him to my next album or something like that!"
Iglesias and Martin begin their live concert series on Sept. 25 in Las Vegas which ends on Nov. 20 in California, as per Martin’s Instagram handle.
“ @enriqueiglesias @ricky_martin TOUR with special guest @sebastianyatra,” the caption stated, adding the tour dates which can also be accessed in a link on Martin’s Instagram handle.
