Epic Games Updates Fortnite With v10.20 Patch Notes: Shield Bubble, Fortnite X Mayhem And More!
Epic Games is scheduled to roll out the latest version of Fortnite on Tuesday, August 27.
The Fortnite v10.20 will be released on the PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and mobile on the said date and should bring a ton of updates including a spanking new item.
Dextero has it that fans of the game will be more than esctatic to know that v10.20 is a lightyear away from the humble v10.10 update last week. This time, the new patch will host a bevy of changes as players gear for the “fifth week of its 10th season.”
Up on the starting block of v10.20 is the Shield Bubble. The item, which according to the developer “is a bubble that's not easy to burst, will give protection to anyone who usess it. While the shield can block projectiles and explosives, players can “still run through it.”
Players can still attack while inside the bubble “but cannot go outside of it,” Epic Games added.
The Shield Bubble is a rare item and will last for 30 seconds alongside 400 HP.
V10.20 will likewise tweak the “controversial” B.R.U.T.E. After a player boards one, the map icon will remain visible and will follow it as it moves.
This will allow map awareness of the B.R.U.T.E.'s location, the source said.
In addition, the vehicle's rockets were reduced from 10 to 6 in a single charge, while its fire rate was also decreased by 56 percent. Also, the vehicle will no longer give materials to the driver and passenger when “stomping or dashing through the environment,” among others.
Spawn rates in Arena and Tournament were also adjusted, maxing the B.R.U.T.E.'s spawn to 6.
As for gameplay, a new Rift Zone has been created at the oasis near Paradise Palms. It's called Pandora and it will be part of the Fortnite X Mayhem collaboration.
The aforementioned team-up is made courtesy of 2K Games which will bring a Borderlands 3 flavor to Fortnite. Pandora, meanwhile is based on the planet of the same name from Borderlands; players will gain shield if they don't go into combat or go four seconds without taking any damage.
Pandora will entice players with theme Challenges with free rewards, as well as Psycho and Claptrap cosmetic items.
Of course, no patch update would be complete without a truckload of bug fixes and gameplay changes. Apple users are included, now that the new patch will “optimize” the content of the game during their first run after patching. There's a 60fps support for the iPhone 8, too, alongside the updating of the image on-screen during the patching process.
