Eric Trump Unbothered By Capitol Riot Violence, Believed It Was 'Fair Game'

A British documentary filmmaker, who interviewed friends and family of then-President Donald Trump ahead of the riot at the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021, said Trump’s son Eric was unbothered by the possible violence that would stem from his father’s unfounded claims about the 2020 election.

Alex Holder, whose footage was subpoenaed by the House Select Committee investigating the Jan. 6 riots, said Eric suggested that violence from Trump supporters was only “fair game” following his father’s loss to then-presidential candidate Joe Biden.

"When I asked Eric about the potential danger of sort of rhetoric and the sort of the belligerence, he felt that it was … fair game in that it … was sort of the equivalent on the other side of the political discourse, or he felt that it was the right thing to do … because the election was stolen," Holder told The Independent in an interview.

The British filmmaker added that he felt violence was becoming more possible as the filming went on and as Trump and his family continued to promote conspiracy theories that the 2020 presidential election was stolen.

“The idea of violence, to me, seemed likely because of the fact that when you tell 75 million people that their vote didn't count, and the person that's telling you that is not just the guy you voted for, but also the incumbent President of the United States, the chance of violence was always there,” Holder added.

The filmmaker’s Trump-focused documentary, which is titled “Unprecedented,” is expected to show another clip that showed Ivanka, Trump’s eldest daughter, supporting her father’s efforts to overturn the election.

The video, which Holder also surrendered to the House Select Committee, showed Ivanka saying that her father should “continue to fight until every legal remedy is exhausted,” adding that Americans were questioning the sanctity of the 2020 election.

The video came out after Ivanka testified to the committee that she backed former Attorney General William Barr when he said the Justice Department found no evidence of voter fraud that could change the outcome of the 2020 election.
