Erika Jayne Accused Of Being ‘Knee-Deep’ In Husband Tom Girardi Embezzlement Scandal
“Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” star Erika Jayne has claimed she was unaware of Tom Girardi’s financial issues. However, the lawyer working on the class-action lawsuit against the estranged couple plans to prove she had full knowledge of her husband’s embezzlement scheme.
During an appearance on the Wednesday episode of the “Reality Life with Kate Casey” podcast, Jay Edelson, of the law firm Edelson PC, claimed Erika knew Tom used some of the money he stole to fund her business.
“We believe we’re going to be able to prove that Erika was incredibly involved in not just the law firm, but also, he was loaning money to her company 10s of millions of dollars to her company,” Edelson said.
“And we think that money came from client funds. And we’re going to look into all of that. And that’s all going to be, you know, part of proof that we showed to a jury — that she was knee-deep in this fraud, and she can say, ‘Oh, she didn’t know anything about it.’ And I think that’s going be hard for to convince a jury of.”
According to the lawsuit, Tom has been accused of embezzling money from a settlement that was meant to go to the families of plane crash victims.
Meanwhile, Erika has been accused of using the embezzled money to fund her lavish lifestyle. If Edelson wins the case, he revealed the Bravo star would be required to pay back that money, which could be done in the form of repossession.
Edelson’s comments about his legal plans for Erika come after, Dinsmore & Shohl LLP, the law firm representing the 49-year-old in Tom’s Chapter 7 Bankruptcy case, filed documents to withdraw from representation.
The firm filed the documents Tuesday after the ABC News Originals documentary “The Housewife and the Hustler” began streaming on Hulu. The documentary took a deep dive into the couple’s legal woes and over-the-top spending habits. Erika has yet to announce her replacement counsel.
