Errol Spence is considering fighting Canelo Alvarez once he decided to move up to 160 and has revealed the advantage he has over the Mexican superstar.

Spence, one of the most celebrated boxing superstars in the world today, was pressed by media to reveal his future plans in boxing. Aside from his consistent desire to share the ring with Filipino legend Manny Pacquiao, Spence apparently has plans to move up to the 154-pound division.

As Spence admitted to planning to move up, one man was immediately linked to his name – Saul “Canelo” Alvarez. In a recent interview with Fight Hub TV, Spence was asked if he would ever want to face Canelo once he finally moved up to heavier divisions.

According to Spence, a fight with Canelo would be a great one and he doesn’t think the size difference would cause him trouble at all. “Canelo’s not a huge guy anyway, I mean he has size like mass but he’s not a big guy. I think that’ll be a great fight,” Spence said.

When asked about how he sees himself fighting a champion like Canelo, the 29-year-old American champ admitted that he never really thought about it much. However, he insisted that he thinks Canelo has the power but could gas out quicker than him. “I never really just broke it down,” Spence admitted.

“He has power he has good timing, he punch with a lot of power but he does get tired so I think I have the advantage of you know having more wind than him,” Spence noted.

Spence’s trainer, Derrick James, also believes that Alvarez vs. Spence will be a great fight. He even emphasized that both champions are “evenly matched.”

“Canelo’s a great boxer, great counter puncher. Very well rounded just like Errol. Two guys who are kind of evenly matched,” James pointed out.

In terms of his fighter’s advantages over Canelo, James acknowledged the Mexican star’s abilities, but he thinks that Spence is a bit faster. “He’s not fast but he’s very precise and he had great reaction time,” James explained.

Spence is set to face WBC champion Shawn Porter this weekend. Ahead of the fight, Spence already boasted about the power he had shown during his fight against Mikey Garcia and plans to do the same with Porter, Boxing Scene reported.

"I showed people that I have the great boxing skills against Mikey Garcia, and now I'm going to remind everyone about my power on Sept. 28," Spence said.
