KEY POINTS

  • The new "Streets Of Tarkov" map received a new trailer called "The Battle For Concordia"
  • The map will feature destructible environments and a new boss NPC
  • Players will have to navigate wide sightlines and fully explorable buildings in the new map

Battlestate Games revealed a new trailer for the upcoming “Streets Of Tarkov” map in “Escape From Tarkov,” which is an urban environment with long sightlines, explorable buildings, tight corridors, destructible walls and a Scav boss riding a Russian BTR.

The “Battle For Concordia” trailer served as the new area’s first full combat gameplay showcase featuring the game’s tense encounters and lethal shootouts. Players will be able to explore commercial centers and apartment complexes as they try to score the best loot possible, all while fending off AI-controlled scavengers and players alike.

“Escape From Tarkov” is a high-stakes FPS game where small mistakes can cost players their entire loadout. It values patience over twitch-based reactive shooting, and the game rewards players who have decent tactical knowledge and high situational awareness.

The new map will push these requirements to their thresholds. Fully-interactable building interiors suggest every building can be a sniper’s nest, which can turn something as simple as crossing the street into a nerve-wracking experience. Players can expect to fight between residential buildings, banks, stores, parking lots and the wide-open streets between every establishment.

Building interiors in “Streets Of Tarkov” won’t be wholly different from the game’s other maps in terms of design and layout, but the introduction of environmental destruction opens up many new ways to win and lose a firefight.

Destructible environments can create opportunities for players to ambush other squads or disengage from a bad fight. The trailer showed players breaching through walls with explosives, knocking rubble back and leaving conveniently-sized holes for players to move through. Interior environments will still have an air of claustrophobia within them, but players will now be granted a bit of extra mobility if they can spare the munitions for it.

Finally, the BTR (a Russian Armored Personnel Carrier) shown at the end of the trailer is presumably a new boss enemy. Players will have to deal with the BTR’s crew as well as an infantry squad if they want to get the best loot possible. Unfortunately, it’s unknown whether the BTR can be piloted by players or not.

Battlestate Games has not specified a release date for “Streets Of Tarkov” yet.
