With “Arrow” coming to an end this season, we learn that the story will continue with some new heroes in the spinoff, currently titled “Green Arrow And The Canaries.” We don’t know what to expect once the next chapter in the Arrowverse gets picked up by The CW, but here’s a breakdown of what we know so far:

It Will Take Place in the Future

It’s obvious that this spin-off will potentially take the story into the future like how it was in the last two seasons of “Arrow.” The new series will take place in the year 2040, which will be after Oliver Queen’s (Stephen Amell) death. Producer Marc Guggenheim revealed in a tweet to a fan that the show will be in the future that we saw in the original series.

"The #Arrow spinoff takes place in 2040," Guggenheim tweeted. "We already spoiled that Oliver is dead by that time, so his not appearing in Arrow 809 (the spinoff episode) isn't affected by what happens in Crisis (or, for that matter, the series finale)." So despite what others may think, there will be a future without Oliver in it, but at least his daughter Mia Smoak will be taking the mantle.

Mia Smoak Will Be The New Green Arrow

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Katherine McNamara will be reprising her role as Mia Smoak. We’ve seen Mia's skills with a bow and arrow during the show and it feels right that she’ll be taking the name of the Green Arrow. She has been training since her childhood after Oliver left her and Felicity (Emily Bett Rickards). We will see how the costume turns out once she dons the suit but we already see the similarities between father and daughter. The personality of the show seems to carry off the same vibes as the original show with Mia at the forefront.

Juliana Harkavy and Katie Cassidy Will Return

Since the title of the spin-off involves the Canaries, it would make sense to have the original Black Canaries on the show as well. THR also reported that both Katie Cassidy and Juliana Harkavy are already booked to reprise their roles as Earth-2’s Laurel Lance and Dinah Drake as they team up with Mia to protect Star City. We got to see their future selves recently so we have an idea of how that dynamic would be. It should be a whole lot of fun to see these two ladies teaming up.

The Backdoor Pilot To Air As Ninth Episode of Arrow

During the final season of “Arrow,” we will get a glimpse of the new series during episode 9 which is actually being titled “Green Arrow and the Canaries” to make a nod to a potential spin-off. The episode will take place after the conclusion of the epic Arrowverse crossover event “Crisis on Infinite Earths,” according to CBR. Filming has already been done as the upcoming episode is waiting for release in January. By then, we will have one more episode of “Arrow” before it signs off the air.

New Series Will Face Against a New Deathstroke

The new spin-off will also bring another character into the future. TVLine revealed that Charlie Barnett would be reprising his role as Diggle Jr. AKA Deathstroke in the backdoor pilot. The son of John (David Ramsey) and Lyla Michaels (Audrey Marie Anderson) would be making an appearance as the new Deathstroke as we saw earlier in the earlier episodes of the final season of “Arrow.” Diggle Jr. in the future leads the Deathstroke Gang as they try to claim Star City for themselves.
