‘Eyewitness’ Canceled Or Renewed For Season 2?
“Eyewitness” fans may have to wait until the end of next month to find out the fate of the USA Network series.
According to the official Twitter account of Adi TV Studios, one of the production companies behind “Eyewitness,” the network’s final and official decision to cancel or renew the show for Season 2 won’t be made until the end of January 2017.
In an interview with Deadline last October, executive producer Adi Hasak revealed that “Eyewitness” was pitched as an anthology series with the notion that it might reboot every year with a different story and a different set of characters. “The show was sold as an anthology,” Hasak said at that time. “I’m really enamored with shows like ‘American Horror Story’ and ‘American Crime.’ I told USA that this would be an anthology called ‘Eyewitness’ where every season would be told from the point of view of someone who witnesses a crime. That meant that the show would be resolved at the end of Season 1.”
But when the show premiered and the fans have started to express their love for the characters on social media, Adi TV Studio came to a decision to keep the original cast for the potential sophomore run. “If all goes well and we get a Season 2, we’re definitely leaning toward using the same cast and characters,” assistant producer Jennifer Coté told TV Goodness. “The fandom has spoken out loud and clear about their love for these particular characters, so we’ve already been brainstorming what journeys we’d want to see them go on next.”
While that’s definitely good news for fans who have come to love Philip (Tyler Young), Lukas (James Paxton), Helen (Julianne Nicholson) and Gabe (Gil Bellows), among many others, there are some fans who are little worried that extending the story might not be a good idea.
Despite such concerns from fans, Adi TV Studios are confident that they can make another interesting season with the same set of characters.
